Smarter Housing - keeping it green

Wednesday 02 Jul 2008

Over the next two months all of our properties will be inspected and issued with an Energy Performance Certificate (‘EPC’). An EPC will soon be a legal requirement for a rented property and gives prospective tenants an estimate of how much it will cost to provide heat, light and water over the period of a year.

Most property managers will stop once their legal obligation has been met i.e. the EPC has been issued. However, Smarter Housing will be pro-active in securing grants available to property owners, specifically for the purpose of improving energy efficiency, and carrying out an improvement programme over the next three years.

Smarter Housing will shortly publish a journal on how the energy improvements are coming along and how this links in with our overall green policy.
